Criminal Justice Partnerships

Trauma-informed therapeutic support for people in the criminal justice system, delivered in partnership with probation and multi-agency professionals.

Counselling for people in the criminal justice system

Clear Counselling works alongside the Probation Service, wellbeing practitioners and other multi-agency professionals to deliver therapeutic support to people in contact with the criminal justice system. Our team of forensic therapists brings over 80 years of collective experience in the Criminal Justice System, and we are deeply committed to supporting people who are often shut out of counselling because of their offending history or a mental health diagnosis.

We believe that no one is beyond help. Sessions are trauma-informed and shaped around each person’s history, needs and risk profile — not a fixed programme they are expected to fit into.

Working in partnership with referring professionals

We know that referring officers need a service they can rely on. Clear reporting and information-sharing protocols are agreed with the referring agency from the outset, so everyone knows what will be shared, when, and why. We currently work in partnership with organisations including the National Probation Service, St Giles Trust and The Wise Group.

Flexible commissioning

Sessions can be commissioned on a block-booked or spot-purchase basis, making it straightforward to add therapeutic support to an existing package of care, licence conditions or community order.

Accessible wherever your client is

Appointments are available in person at our private office in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, or by telephone and online — so distance, travel costs and licence restrictions don’t have to be a barrier to engagement.

Frequently asked questions

Who can refer someone to Clear Counselling?

Referrals are welcome from probation officers, wellbeing practitioners and other multi-agency professionals. People already under probation supervision can also refer themselves.

How quickly will a referral be picked up?

Referrals are acknowledged within one working day. After clinical triage, a first appointment is usually offered within five working days.

What information is shared with the referring officer?

We agree reporting and information-sharing protocols with the referring agency at the start. Typically this covers attendance and engagement. If there is a risk to the client or others, we follow our safeguarding and risk procedures, including MAPPA-aligned information sharing where relevant. Clients are told clearly what will and won't be shared before sessions begin.

Can sessions take place remotely?

Yes. Sessions are available in person at our office in Leamington Spa, by telephone, or online, so clients outside Warwickshire or with travel restrictions can still take part.

How is the service funded?

Sessions are usually commissioned by the referring organisation, either block-booked or spot-purchased. Please get in touch to discuss what would work for your service.
