What are learning difficulties?
If a person has learning disabilities or learning difficulties, they may find learning to be a challenge, since their brain may receive and process information in an alternative way. People with learning difficulties may have trouble performing certain tasks or displaying certain skills, and may also struggle with social skills and interaction, potentially leaving them vulnerable to dangerous situations. Common learning difficulties include dyslexia and ADHD, and although learning difficulties are often confused with mental illness, the two are completely separate.
How can Clear Counselling help?
Counselling can help by enabling the person to build their self-esteem and self- worth. Increasing confidence is the key to self-acceptance, and with this comes personal achievement. Counselling can also help those with learning difficulties become more aware of their own personal struggles, as well as encourage them to be able to ask for help and support. Ultimately, counselling is about working within the boundaries of what any person needs for their life, living in their own worlds and using their own experiences as tools for their future.
