What is anger management?
Anger is a basic and necessary emotion that is central to our survival. Feeling angry is a natural human response to certain life experiences, and anger occurs particularly at times when we come under attack, feel deceived, insulted or frustrated. Anger helps to relieve built-up energy and tension, and being able to express anger is important; it is not being able to that causes negative repercussions.
How can Clear Counselling help?
There are many different expressions of anger, and counselling can help you to recognise if yours is impulsive, buried, hidden, intentional, habitual, righteous or defensive. Being able to help identify the cause is a great step, as is learning what it is that makes you angry. Since anger is usually a problem when it starts harming you and those around you, counselling can work to help you gain an understanding of the problem, as well as look at what’s maintaining it. When this is clear you become more aware of yourself and begin to understand what changes need to be made. With this sharpened insight and awareness, you will ultimately learn how to manage your anger better.
